Cardio tennis

Cardio Tennis is available through CTA Sussex at Crowborough Tennis Club and is extremely popular.

CTA run a class on a Monday morning at 11:30am then a Monday evening at 7:30pm, which is more of a “boot camp” style session. Then again on a Wednesday Morning at 10:15am, which is tailored to who attends. Even in the boot camp style session, please do not be put off coming. AJ will tailor the exercises to all levels of fitness.

The cost is £8 for members or £10 as a non-member.

what is cardio tennis?

The first part of the Cardio Tennis session is a series of Tennis specific activities, similar to a circuit training class, that work on core strengths required to play tennis and keep your movement fluid. We use equipment such as medicine balls; kettle bells; some free weights; resistance bands; eye coaches; agility cones and ladders. . .  the list goes on.  Then the second part of the session is aimed at hitting a lot of balls performing various fun and active drills.

It does not require too much tennis skill, or in some cases a racket, but it is all about keeping your heart rate up, burning calories and having fun. The main purpose is to get fitter by pushing yourself just that little bit more each week.

You will love it. If you are looking for a great new way to get in shape, then this is it.

The activities are for all levels, you can take it at your own pace. What you put in, you will get out. You will be provided with a great cardio workout while improving your tennis skills. Cardio Tennis is outside and is generally more fun than working out in a gym.

The session takes place on a tennis court (or two) and will be run by AJ. On average, an hour long cardio session can help you burn around 500 Calories.

Please come wearing appropriate ‘gym’ or tennis attire, have a bottle of water to keep hydrated and please wear training shoes with non-marking soles.
